The competition welcomed Emmy Pip Knight from The Sitting Room Delahunt in Dublin, Mark Cooney from the Sisters Social in Limerick, Eoin Lynne from Cask, Cork, Emanuele Martucci from the Americana Bar in Dublin, and Kevin Hegarty from Glovebox in Dublin. Irish Whiskey Digestifs were paired against the digestif Petit Four of Irish coffee choux bun, shiso, yuzu caramel. Ketel One Vodka then was to be paired against his Aperitif Starter of Chicken liver Royale, passion fruit, pineapple, Roasted coffee.ĭon Julio Tequila was paired in a digestif against Mark’s Digestif desert of seaweed caramel custard, redcurrant, hazelnut, and wood sorrel.įinally, Roe & Co. Ten Aperitif with Mark’s Aperitif Canape of Steak & Chips: a Crisp confit potato, dry aged beef tartare, horseradish. Participants were challenged to create four drinks against the clock, pairing a Tanqueray No. The challenge was designed to test their skills at pairing their creations against 4 unique dishes prepared by chef Mark.

This day was created by Dean Serneels in February 2022.The National Final of Diageo Reserve’s World Class Bartender of the Year 2022 Ireland took place in Three Storey, Dublin where Mark Cooney from Limerick cocktail bar Sisters Social was crowned the winner.įive finalists competed in the Aperitif & Digestif: Precision & pressure challenge and Fist Full of Roses, Ketel Opus.2, Grinning Beggar, Moon and Harbour were among the winning Aperitif & Digestif cocktails by Cooney. This will encourage people to come out to the restaurants and celebrate the amazing people that practice this age old craft. This level of interaction can draw a large audience that celebrates in a restaurant or in an area of the city that hosts many restaurants. More ambitious people will host their own Flair bartending events that attract local, national or even international flair bartenders to the restaurant to compete.
These bartenders and Flair Freestyle enthusiasts may also compete in one of the many flair bartending events around the nation and the globe. By encouraging bartenders to take to social media to teach a bar trick or a flair trick, promote a flair bartending show to attract guests to the restaurant. How should this day be celebrated? The day can be celebrated in a number of ways. The day is being created to draw awareness of the craft and hopes to inspire restaurants or individuals to increase their training or even host a local or national bartending competition. Known in the Las Vegas Bartenders Union as “Entertainment Bartender”. In the past 30 years it has become a style of bartending all in itself. Flair bartending itself dates back to the dawn of the craft in the early 1800’s. Why was this day created? The hospitality industry has been hit hard during the crisis of the last two years. Bartenders that go above and beyond in their daily training to not only make great drinks but to entertain guests at the same time. Bottle flipping, shaker spinning, glass tossing bartenders that draw guests to the bar with their celerity of motion and bottle conjuring skills. What is National Flair Bartenders Day? This national day will be dedicated to bartenders that entertain from behind the bar. When is this day celebrated? June 10th of each calendar year.
